Welcome. I’m so glad you are here. This is a place for you to feel seen and heard, to be safe and discover connection. There is hope here.
It’s in relationships that we are wounded and it’s in relationships that we are healed.
Relationships are what bring meaning and purpose to our lives, they provide joy and intimacy, fun and laughter. And yet they can also bring pain, confusion and disappointment.
Through my life and time as a counselor, I have learned that relationships and emotional health are deeply connected. Relationships are at the center of our lives and during our time together, my hope is to help you in those relationships – whether it’s your relationship with your spouse, your family members, co-workers, or maybe even your relationship with yourself.
Maybe you have tried everything – the date nights, the communication tools, the listening skills. Do you feel like roommates? Do you try to connect but end up getting stuck in the same cycle? Do you feel like things are beyond repair? Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a safe place where we get to the heart of the matter. We are in this together. Showing up is the first step.
Whether you are struggling with emotional distress, relationship difficulty, boundaries, self-care, transitions, trauma, or any other issue, my hope is to offer you an experience of healing. I want to help you feel your feelings, make connections and see patterns in your life. As our sessions continue I will help you find your voice and be empowered to live more freely.
Although it is a type of therapy designed to help people heal from trauma, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) also yields amazing results for anything that might be causing you to feel stuck. If you feel like you can’t move from your head to your heart or the same negative belief keeps coming back, EMDR would be a great treatment option to help you move forward!
One of the perks of working in an urban setting is being able to provide unique offerings. As a therapist who is passionate about the mind-body connection, I invite you to take your therapy session out of the office and walk in Hampton Park during your therapy time. Our session would continue as we walk and at the same time experience the live-giving benefits of fresh air and sunshine.
You don’t have to do this alone.
For the past 7 years I have worked with men, women, and children from all walks of life in the Charleston area. I received a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College and have received advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and also EMDR. Currently, I am also supervising a new generation of local therapists through their licensure process. My practice offers a relational, holistic and integrative approach to therapy; a place for you to feel safe where you are and accepted as you are.
